How many new students do you think we have so far this year?  Ten?  Twenty?  Fifty?  Try one hundred and fifteen!  Picture yourself in their shoes, coming to a new school knowing anywhere from a few to no other students in the whole school.  “That is why we have a luncheon get to know you party about two weeks into school, so that we can get to know the students while they get to know each other,” said Mrs. Distefano, the seventh grade counselor. Micky Hargette, a new ninth grader at our school who came from Freedom Academy, said, “I like it here because there are so many more people to meet, and there is a new person everyday, and there is way better food surprisingly, and you have more choices at lunch too.”  Also she doesn’t have to wear a uniform anymore. Taig Arledge, a new eighth grader to our school who came from Orem Jr. High, said, “I like it here because there are a lot more classes and the schedules are different, but my favorite class is P.E.”  Tonii Foster a seventh grader said, “I like the transition because I can meet more people, and there are seven periods so you don’t just have the same teacher all day.”  Make sure that when you meet a new student that they feel welcome!
