The No Tardy Party

On February 13th, 2012, students from Springville Junior High School had the chance to attend a field trip to the movie theater. The only way students would be able to go and enjoy this field trip is if they have not had any tardies for second term.

Ana Jimenez, a seventh grader at Springville Junior High School, said, “It’s a reward you have to earn.” You have to be on time to class if you want to go to the movie. Many students have gone and said they’ve enjoyed it.

When students entered the movie theater in Payson, they got to see the movie Journey 2. The students who brought money bought their movie snacks and hurried to the movie.  Nicole Plowman, an eighth grader at Springville Junior High, said, “It was fun getting out of class.”

Some students used strategies to get to class. “ I walked as fast as I could to all of my classes,” said Nicole Plowman.  The No Tardy Party was created to show students want can be rewarded for being responsible.  Mr. Mikesell said, “it’s to motivate students to be on time. [The students] have something to work towards.”

The No Tardy Party will continue for the remaining terms and will offer great fun for those who work hard.
