Orchestra Students Practice Their Hearts Out

Orchestra is back for another successful year at Springville Junior High School! Orchestra is an elective class that all grades at the junior high can sign up for and learn how to play an instrument. Specifically, students can learn how to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass.

The orchestra teacher is Dr. Tsugawa. He teaches three periods at the beginning of the day at the junior high, and then he teaches four more periods at the high school. “He is a really awesome teacher and is very helpful,” said Kenya Rodriguez a ninth-grade student in orchestra. In orchestra students get to... well obviously learn to play an instrument. But like every class, it comes with homework. But homework is practice, and practice makes perfect! According to Julia Singleton, a seventh-grade student in orchestra, students do “Smart Music” online to help them practice the instrument they play. Since playing an instrument can be hard for some students, having homework can help them become better musicians.

Orchestra is a great class for students to sign up for if they are looking to find their talents, or want to develop one, or just be more determined and have more focus. The majority of students interviewed like the modern day and cool music that they get to play.
