Quest Time Sewing Club

As many SJHS students may know, there are various enrichment activities for Quest Time. One of those enrichment activities is a sewing club. In Mrs. Bird’s sewing room on Thursdays, the students who come get to work their magic for twenty minutes. According Mrs. Bird, a sewing club advisor, her favorite part about teaching is she gets to help the kids learn to do something new and creative.

In the club students learn basic sewing skills, how to work machinery, and how to design. Sewing club is also good because if the students didn’t get to be in the sewing class they can still show off and or learn a new skill. The students can also choose what they make based on their skill level so they can move at their own pace. Students in sewing club really likes it.  They get to makes stuff likes bags, pajamas, pillow cases, and pretty much whatever they want. Kimber Hicken, a ninth grader at SJHS,said, “My favorite part is when you see the piece of fabric and you think of what is this going to be.”

The students in the sewing club like it because if they make a mistake they can fix it.  They also get to be designers and use their imagination. They can express themselves and do their own thing.
