SAGE Testing

It is getting closer to the end of year here at SJHS, and teachers are preparing their students for the new SAGE test that we must take. The English teachers have already begun to test in the computer labs.

“We just finished taking the writing portion of the SAGE test,” said Ms. McBride, an English teacher at SJHS. “We spent a lot of time preparing by working on argument essays, as well as expository essays, like compare and contrast.”

Another English teacher, Mrs. Maughan, said, “I think it's great that students are expected to write essays and answer questions instead of just choosing from A,B,C, or D.  I think it gives them a chance to really show what they've learned. This year was the first year so there were a few hiccups that we learned from, and now we understand how the test really functions.”  Mrs. Maughan says that her students are doing very well, and are very focused on this test.

Math teachers are also starting to prepare their students for testing in the labs.
