There are so many talented kids in this school.  Whether you are good at the violin, the saxophone, or drawing, you have an amazing talent.  One talent that many students at SJHS have is singing.  A few students that excel in singing have been spotlighted for their beautiful ability.

Kaitlyn Gee, a seventh grader at SJHS said, “I love singing and sharing my talent with other people.  When I sing, I feel like I’m on top of the world.”  Kaitlyn is in the school play this year as a member of the mission band; she was also in choir last semester as an Apprentice Singer.  She wants everyone to know that even if they think they cannot sing, they can.  All you need is a little training.

According to Adam Krieger, a seventh grader at SJHS, he love singing different types of music and seeing how high he can go.  He loves to sing and be in plays, and is enjoying being a part of the school play in the role of “Harry the Horse.”  Adam also participated in last semester’s Apprentice Singers.

Zack Dalley, an eighth grade student at SJHS, said, “I’ve been singing my whole life,  I love to sing pop music because I get to ‘run’ my voice a lot.”  Zack was in the school play last year, as well as this year.  He has performed in the Apprentice Singers and Journeymen choirs.  He also was a part of the school talent show last year. According to

Marissa Roper, an eighth grader at SJHS, she took voice lessons for a few years, until her teacher stopped teaching voice.  She loves trying to find different harmonies in songs.  “You just kinda feel like you’re at your best, like you can do anything.”  Marissa, like Zack, has participated in the both last year’s, and this year’s school plays.  She was in the Apprentice Singers choir last year, and is currently in the Knightingales choir.

Mrs. Utrera, the choir teacher at SJHS, said that there are so many talented singers in this school.  Everyone has their own special abilities.  “Kaitlyn sings with a lot of expression and energy.  Adam is very consistent with the melodies and picks things up easily.  Zack has great pitch and energy.  He has more training and experience than many.  Marissa is expressive and solid on pitch.” Like Mrs. Utrera said, there are so many talented singers in this school.  Everyone has great potential with their voice.
