Do you like hands on activities? If you do, sculpture is a great choice, and we have it here at SJHS . Mrs. Wallace, the art teacher, is teaching the students different techniques that different artist use. They learn the basics and get to work.

Cole Monson, an eighth grader, said, “You can be creative and do whatever you want, and it’s fun .”  Cole also said they work with paper, clay, and paint.

Jeric Adamson, another eighth grader, said, “ I like how it’s a hands on learning experience- you get to learn and work.”

The class has learned a lot of stuff during this year. They study different artist and do things that they do too, like the Giocometti project named after the artist. They also did oil clay based sculptures, and learning proportions. According to Mrs. Wallace they work with a variety of mediums including dry wall, wire, and paper mache. They learn proportions, and building techniques. They also had a guest artist visit them to teach them how throw a pot on the wheel.

If you are the type of person who loves hands on activities and love to show your creativity, sign up for sculpture class!
