SHS Softball Tryouts

Submitted by jennifer.dunn on

Do you enjoy softball? Well at SJHS we have some freshman trying out for the high school team.

Sydnee Morgan, a ninth grader at SJHS, has been playing softball since the fourth grade and has now been playing for seven years. Sydnee played accelerated softball, and was on a team called Rage. They went to St.George for games they were playing in.

Shaylee Ferran, another freshman trying out for the team, has been playing softball since she was “six-ish” ever since T-ball. Shaylee is looking forward to being part of the team because they get to go on cool trips to play games. Shaylee said that they get to go up to St. George to play.

SHS had open gym Monday through Thursday. Sydnee Morgan said open gyms are somewhere you can go to get practice and help for tryouts, and they are at the high school Monday through Thursday at the underground track at Springville High School. Shaylee Ferran said that the open gyms are optional.

Jill Thackeray, the girls high school softball coach, has been coaching for seven years. She played softball at Etna High School in California. Her favorite part of coaching is interacting with the girls. “It is so rewarding to see them push themselves and work hard to achieve the goals that they have set for themselves and for the team.”  Try outs were Wednesday February 26th-Friday February 28th 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the SHS softball fields.

Go and support the SHS softball and baseball teams this year.
