SJHS Girls Score Big on SHS Basketball Team

Submitted by tiffanie.miley on

Three girls from Springville Junior High School recently accomplished a great feat in making the Springville High School basketball team. Those three students are Lydia Austin, Alexandria Sorensen, and Marynda Chipman. Marynda said, “My goal has always been to make the girls high school basketball team, and I’m really excited that I actually made the team!” These girls have been playing for a very long time and have gotten better as they have kept practicing. According to Lydia, she has been playing since she was about five years old.

Each of these athletes love being on the team for a different reason; Marynda said, “My favorite part about being on the team is having fun with the players, coaches, and managers, and also being able to improve my skills.” According to Alexandria, her favorite part about being on the team is being able to work together with her teammates. You can see the passion that these girls show in their games, they try their best to achieve their goal of victory.

The team is now hard at work practicing everyday after school from three to five at the high school preparing for their games.  Good luck Red Devils!
