SJHS has many sports to offer for students. But every fall at SJHS they have a girls tennis team. The students on the tennis team are Addie Nielsen,  Anne Wallace,Tristan McAfee,  Rachel Hatch, Lily Udall, Jenica Freeman, Kaylee Remund,  Ali Killpack, Juliette Hansen, Hana Miyasaki, Jenna Sokolowski, Ellie Brenchley, Jane Shoemaker, Calli Egbert, Sarah Sokolowski, and Gracie Sentz. The girls tennis team is offered to every girl at SJHS. They go and compete against other tennis teams in the district.

The tennis team works hard. “We practice everyday except match days, here at the school, at 2:50 everyday,” said Addie Nielsen, an eighth grader on the tennis team. According to Mr. Dahl, who is in charge of the tennis teams,  the tennis team has not had as many  practices as he would  like, but they have come a long way and are improving very fast. They have already played here at SJHS, at Payson, and at Springville High School.

“We had to practice and tryout in order to get on the tennis team,” said Callie Egbert, a seventh grade student who is also of the tennis team.

Jenica Freeman and Lily Udall, are partners on the tennis team. According to both of them they have a lot of fun on the tennis team and love being together and being able to play one of their favorite sports together.

Mr.Dahl, who is a science teacher at SJHS, has been coaching the tennis team for five years. “I played tennis in high school and thought it would be fun to pass on the sport to the next generation,” said Mr.Dahl.

The tennis team has matches every week, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays.
