At the end of the last school year, the students of SJHS elected a new student council. The student council includes the students Jared Buhler, Easton Call, Zack Dalley,Lauryn Davis,Ryker Jenkins, Claire Pexton, Chloe Wimmer, and Maren Pilcher. The teacher in charge of the student council is Ms.Murray. The student council helps plan and organize events.
Maren Pilcher, is one of the many students who transferred from MJHS to SJHS. She is now a part of student council and says that she loves it here at Springville, and has enjoyed getting to know the other officers on student council as well.
Jared Buhler, a member of the student council, said, “We plan activities and help other people if they're sitting alone or just need a friend.” They also have planning parties about upcoming activities that they want to do for the school so that they can make it the best it can possibly be. According to Ms. Murray, the student council meets two times a week to plan and discuss the needs of the school.
Even though the student council is in charge of many activities and assemblies that is not why the officers wanted to do student council. “I wanted to make a difference in this school and I wanted to help others,” said Jared Buhler. Lauryn Davis also said that she ran for student council because she wanted to be more involved in school and wanted to help the school. She also explained that the student council helps give students the opportunity to have a say in what activities they should do instead of just teachers doing it all.
