SJHS Wrestling Team

Wrestling at SJHS is a big hit this year, according to Coach Ward, the wrestling coach at SJHS. Forty eight students signed up for wrestling this year.  According to Coach Ward, the team needs more students so they can take the bus to matches, which would be very helpful.

Students that are on the team like wrestling.  Tyler Austin, an eighth grade student on the team, said, “I like wrestling because I get to hurt people.I liked last because last year all of the moves were new to me and now I already know them all.”  Most students on the team like wrestling and are going to keep doing it for as long as possible.

Coach Ward said the second wrestling mat the team got this year is nice because they have more room to practice and they can have bigger, more fun games at the end of practices.  According to the coach and many of the students on the team, the wrestling program is better and more organized than last year.  The team has more people on it and has their own room to wrestle instead of the lunchroom at the old school.

Daniel Rasmussen, a new wrestler on the team, said he likes wrestling and is probably going to do it next year too.  He also likes the second mat and is glad the team does not have to practice on just one mat anymore.
