The Spirit of Thanksgiving

“I am thankful for my family,” said Paige Cook, an eighth grade student at SJHS. Nicole Metler, another eighth-grade student at SJHS, agreed and said, “I am also thankful for my friends.” During the month of November, students and staff members shared what they were thankful for.  “I am thankful for a wonderful family, freedom, good health and a beautiful world!” said Mrs. Carpenter.

Students also shared how they show their thanks. Paige Cook said, “Some of the ways I show my thanks at home I try to help make, and clean up dinner.” Nicole Metler said, “When showing my thanks at school I try to be quiet and respectful during class.”

Being a teacher is hard, and they deserve some gratitude. Nicole Metler said, “Another one of the ways I show my gratitude at school is by saying thank you to teachers after they have helped me with something I don’t understand.” There are so many ways to express your gratitude towards parents, teachers and staff. “They work hard for you everyday and they all need to be appreciated for what they do! And even though Thanksgiving has passed that doesn't mean you have to stop being thankful!” said Nicole Metler.

Students share what they think the true meaning of Thanksgiving is, “I think the true meaning of Thanksgiving is to give thanks for all the freedoms and liberties we have, and also to celebrate and be grateful with our families,” said Chloe Wilson, an eighth-grade student at SJHS. So next Thanksgiving and throughout the year try to show your thanks at home and at school.
