Did you know that at our Springville Junior High School sports teams won district many times in the past?
In basketball we were the Utah Valley Champions in 2002 and 2004, both in girls and boys! The coaches that helped the team to victory were Tom Porter in 2002, now Spanish teacher at MMHS. In 2004 it was Scott Johnson, now assistant principal at SHS with Coach Mike Parker, our boys P.E. teacher, as the assistant coach.
According to Coach Parker, we were the district champs in track in 2001 and 2002, in both boys and girls, but only in eighth and ninth grade. In 2003 and 2004 both boys and girls became ninth-grade champs.
Coach Parker also coached tennis for girls and boys and helped them win district in 2001 and 2002. Ms. Tiffanie Miley, one of our English teachers, helped the girls’ tennis team to victory in 2003. Coach Parker also coached the boys’ tennis team to win district in 2003!
Cross country was coached by Coach Parker and won district in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.
Mr. Dallin Krebs, our algebra teacher, coached the golf team and in 2003 they were the Utah Valley Champions. Mr. Rob Bentley, our history teacher, was assistant coach.
We have done really well! Let’s keep it up!
