Spotlight: Mrs. Bales

Submitted by tiffanie.miley on

There is a person at Springville Junior High School who seems to always be there for the students at the school. Mrs. Bales is the attendance secretary at the school, and has been here for 17 years and is still going strong. She enjoys her job at the school and she loves to chat with Mrs. Murdock, the finance secretary. Mrs. Bales worked for Meadow Gold Dairy in Orem before she came here. Mrs. Bales said, “About 17 years ago, my oldest daughter was killed and about a month later this job came open.  I really felt like I needed to be close to my other two daughters. They both were in school here in Springville. One was here at the junior high and the other was at Brookside Elementary.  I met two of my most favorite people here, Mrs. Wimmer and Mrs. Murdock.  They helped me through lots of tough times. It has turned out to be the best job ever.  I love all my friends here, and I'm so happy to be a part of Springville Junior High.”

Many students at school are happy for her help and are glad that she was there when they needed to fix their tardies or absences. Justin Crooksten, ninth grader at SJHS, said, “She’s really nice, and she likes to chat with people. She takes care of the attendance and isn’t really strict about stuff.” Chloe Wimmer, seventh grader at SJHS, said, “She’s always been there for me, and she helps me work out any problems I have. She jokes around a lot with me and Mrs. Murdock, and we always have a good laugh about different things.”

Mrs. Bales’s favorite food is Mexican food, especially La Casita. Fall and winter are her favorite times of the year. She loves the colors of fall and the snow in the winter. Mrs.Bales spends lots of time hanging out with her family and she loves pumpkins, pecan pie, sweaters, mittens, board games, and Christmas lights. Thank you so much Mrs. Bales!
