Super Students Get Knighted

On December 9, 2011, Springville Junior High School had an assembly to celebrate its students' achievements. A boy and girl from each grade was chosen by their teachers to get an award for their excellent behavior. Those students were Ashton Buffo, seventh grader; Jantsen Thrope, seventh grader; Sadie Ogles, eighth grader; Quinn Gleave, eight grader; Andalyn Hall, ninth grader; and Josh Dalley also a ninth grader. Ms. Amanda Cottle, assistant principal at SJHS, said, “This was the first Super Knights assembly I had been to, and I thought it as great! It was fun to see so many students acknowledged for their hard work, good grades, and awesome citizenship.”

On top of celebrating the Super Knights' achivements, there were also performances to show off other students' talents. Mrs. Erica Persson’s dance class did a hula dance, and Mrs. Koriane Maughan’s class did a hip-hop dance. Both classes practiced really hard. Stephine Aragon, an eighth grader in Mrs. Maughan’s dance class, said, “All the practicing was worth it. I loved performing.  It was a lot of fun.”

But the assembly wasn't over just yet, Josh Dalley sang a solo, and there was a slideshow of photographs and sculptures created by Mr. Mitch Cudney's students.  Ms. Cottle said, “I also loved seeing so many students perform.  It's a nice way to showcase talents from so many different classes and it makes students more aware of what types of electives are available, so they can try something new next year.”
