Superintendent Speech

On April 18th, during the Super Knight assembly, the superintendent of Nebo School District, Mr. Nielsen, came and spoke to the students.  Using a powerpoint, he showed pictures of the inside of our school. He also shared a little about his life and job. Mr. Nelson concluded by telling us that the students are the heart and soul of the school.

“It was really moving,” said Daniela Melendez, an eighth-grade student at SJHS, “I learned that not everything is based on appearance.”

Ms. Miley, the assistant principal, said, “My favorite part of Superintendent Nielsen's speech was where he talked about how students make the school come alive and how we're all here to help students learn.” According to Ms. Miley, our school is nothing more than a building until the students arrive.

Mr. VanAusdal, the principal at SJHS, was very pleased with the speech as well.  He said, “It was good for students to see who the superintendent was, because most students don’t know. I liked the student centered message of his speech.”
