Two, four, six, eight, who do we appreciate? Teachers! Springville Junior High had a teacher appreciation week during the week of March 25 to 29! The PTA put together a week full of activities for teachers to enjoy. The two PTA members in charge of teacher appreciation week were Mrs. Elison and Mrs. Patten. Many teachers enjoyed everything that the PTA did for them. Mrs. Gleave, a math teacher at SJHS, said, “Our PTA is amazing!  They were so generous and kind during teacher appreciation week.  They decorated the hallways with basketball banners and spent the week giving teachers basketball themed treats, gifts, and meals.  It was just incredible!”

The PTA did a March Madness themed week with different activities each day. Mrs. Patten said, “We wanted something happening each day that would remind the teachers how much we appreciate them.  We also wanted to involve the students as much as possible, so we planned several activities for them.” Some of the activities were wearing a sports shirt, lunch for teachers, students writing “fan mail” to their teachers, and a Sonic super shoot contest! The Sonic super shoot contest was a contest where teacher sent one student to try and shoot for a prize for the whole fifth-period class!  The winner from first lunch was Josh Elison, an eighth grader, representing Mrs. Murray, and the winner from second lunch was Jantsen Thorpe, an eighth grader, representing Mr. Shields.

According to Mrs. Caras, a science teacher at SJHS, she loved teacher appreciation week and thought it was fun that the students were involved in the activities during the week. Not only was this week for teachers, but also for student to recognize the great things teachers do for them. Madison Riding, a ninth grader at SJHS, said, “I love all my teachers and everything they do for me. Sometime I don’t realize all that they do for students, and they do a lot!” Many of the students are very grateful for teachers and glad to have them around. According to Kayley Loins, a seventh grader at SJHS, she thinks that teachers are awesome and help her learn. The students at SJHS are thankful for their teachers and all that they do. Also, the staff and students are grateful for the PTA and the hard work that they put into teacher appreciation week!
