Teachers Work on Lessons on Early-Out Wednesdays

Here at Springville Junior High, we know that we get out early on Wednesdays, but why?  Mr. Van Ausdal, Springville Junior High principal, said, “Wednesdays are designed to provide teachers with an opportunity to prepare their lessons and improve their teaching skills.”  This makes it so the teachers at SJHS are better prepared to teach.  Letting school out forty-five minutes earlier than usual gives teachers some extra time to get better at what they do best: teaching.

After the students leave, most of the teachers have meetings as departments.  They discuss what each of them is teaching, and ways they can better teach their students the required material.  They then use the rest of their time to work on upcoming lessons, and improve their class’s curriculum.

According to Mr. Van Ausdal, these Wednesdays are crucial to education and student learning at our school.  Both students and teachers benefit from it.
