Track Meet at Payson

The SJHS track team went to Payson for a track meet on Friday, April 18th. “I really like track because it is fun to meet new people and become friends with people you might have never thought you would become friends with! I want to do well at the meets and try and do better and better each time,” said Alexia Gornichec, a member of the track team.

“Track is really fun. I really like to do the events. My favorite part is running! It’s an active sport and it helps with your conditioning. I’ve been practicing really hard and I want to do well to prove that it paid off,” said Josh Lopez, a member of the track team.

“Being outside is the best part of coaching track. I want the team to be able to compete with huge groups of kids from different schools and districts, and also get a tan. The hardest part is definitely organizing 160 student athletes,” said Mr. Kindrick, the track team’s head coach.

The team did amazing at the Payson meet! Sam Atkinson, an eighth grader, took third for girls 100 meters hurdles. If you love to run or want to do track events, make sure to sign up for the track team next year. It is a great way to make new friends, get fit, and have fun while doing it!
