Want to Learn Something During Quest Time? Go to Quest Enrichment!

There are a lot of interesting things that we don’t usually learn about in school.  For example, learning American Sign Language, World War II weapons or Medieval Art History.  However, this year at our school anyone can go to a new thing called Quest Enrichment.  This is something that happens during Quest Time where you go to the Quest Enrichment teacher of the week and learn about interesting topics.  Rebekah Holladay is the one who thought of this.  According to her, one day at school she was bored and had a thought that Quest Time would be a great time to learn.  She wrote a letter to the administration about her idea, and it passed.  Mr. Hammon, and eighth grade health teacher, encourages anyone to go because “it's a cool bonus class for kids.  In what other school will you get to learn from experts about Norse Mythology, Sign Language, or WW2 weapons?”

Quest Enrichment is unfortunately not very well attended, but it is a “very fun way to spend your Quest Time,” says Hannah Henage, a ninth grader.  She also says that “the things we learn are very interesting.”  Likewise, Lily Holladay, a seventh grader, explains that there are very cool things to learn about.  Mr. Hammon thinks Quest Enrichment is a great thing because “every teacher has a lot of different talents to offer and teach besides just the school subject they teach.”  According to Rebekah, if she had one word to describe Quest Enrichment, she would say it is interesting.

The Quest Enrichment topics that have been taught so far are Medieval Art History, American Sign Language, Relationships (Love Language), Bioethics of Animals, Norse mythology and Marvel Comics and WW2 Weapons.  Hannah Henage said that her favorite topic so far has been ASL and she would also love to learn about Physics, Latin, or Psychology.  Mr. Hammon was one of the Quest Enrichment teachers one week and his topic was love language (relationships).  “In my opinion, nothing is more important in education and in life than our relationships.  I taught about the 5 Love Languages because I want to help my students with all their relationships (family, friends, and dating) so that they can get more happiness and fulfillment in life,” he says.  According to Lily, she really enjoyed going to learn about love languages and she also enjoyed learning ASL.  Rebekah also said that she liked going to all of them, but the three that she really liked were WW2, Love Languages and ASL.

If you would like to get more out of your Quest Time and learn about interesting things, then Quest Enrichment is the place for you to go!
