Mrs. Morrell, new history teacher at SJHS 796.64 KB

Here at Springville Junior High, we are effective communicators, responsible citizens, and successful learners. This year at our school, we have a new teacher that is an example of all of these!  “She’s kind, intelligent and helpful!” said Skyler Wasler, a student at Springville Junior High.  “She’s fun, and she always knows what shes doing!” said Megan Gashler, another student at SJHS. But who is this mystery teacher? Introducing Mrs. Morrell, the new history teacher at SJHS!

Students say Mrs. Morrell has a unique way of teaching and makes it fun to learn. But what makes this teacher so great? Skyler Wasler said, “She does lots of group projects that make it really fun!” Megan Gashler agreed, “She keeps it interesting and makes me stay awake!”   Mrs. Morrell said, “It’s hard trying to balance out what's important to teach and what's fun to teach.” But judging from what students have said, Mrs. Morrell makes great choices when it comes to making class fun and educational, therefore creating a successful learning environment for all her students.

Though teaching sounds like it is all fun and games, it can be hard. Mrs. Morrell said, “Different students learn in different ways, so trying to come up with numerous kinds of activities to help everyone learn is difficult. And the grading, always the grading, there is so much of it!” Teaching may be hard. That doesn't mean its bad, Mrs. Morrell said one that of her favorite things about teaching is “Seeing the light bulb flash above a student's head. Seeing that my students understand and enjoy what I am teaching is one of the best things about being a teacher!” She also said, “I love the knight mascot! I am a historian, and I am crazy about medieval times, so working at a place where the mascot is a knight is the best thing ever!”

And last but not least, where did she come from? Mrs. Morrell grew up in Idaho, Utah, California, and Virgina until she graduated from high school. She now lives in Utah, as a junior high teacher. Both students and teachers alike think that our school is lucky to have such a great new teacher at our school, who is interesting, fun, and  a great example of a successful communicator. This year just wouldn't be the same without  Mrs. Morrell!
