Traditional Chinese Art Forms

Submitted by brenda.granzini on

Our class was experimenting with traditional Chinese art forms, such as calligraphy, embroidery, paper folding, and Chinese knot tying, right before Christmas. It was a fun way to learn more about Chinese culture and make gifts to take home for Christmas!

We are finishing up another great week at Springville Junior High. This week we had six teams of eighth graders attend the state We the People competition at UVU. Our school team came third place overall, and the group that focused on the question “How was the Constitution used to establish our government?” came in first place for the entire state of Utah! We are so proud of their hard work! It has been impressive to see how much our eighth graders have learned about the Constitution and how they have been able to apply that learning to complicated questions. Here are our upcoming events:

Brinley Weight

Submitted by brenda.granzini on

A couple of weekends ago, 14 SHS swimmers competed at the State 5A Championship swim meet. The 5A division is by far the most competitive in the state. Only the top 32 swimmers in the state are selected in each event to participate. Of the 33 eligible 5A schools, there were only representatives from 26 women’s teams and 24 men’s teams. Overall, the SHS women’s team placed 13th and the men’s team placed 8th.

Our very own 9th grader Brinley Weight was one of the swimmers who participated in the state meet and she had a great meet!
