Lillian Miller does one more push-up everyday since January!

Submitted by tara.pina on

Lillian Miller loves being athletic. She is the setter on the Springville High School sophomore volleyball team. She loves to play because she has worked really hard to get this far. She said “It's cool to be on a higher level.” which is her favorite thing about being on a high school team. “Game days are something to look forward to during the day.” Lilly recommends playing a sport because “It keeps you active.” So does doing push-ups. Every day since January her family has been doing a challenge. “You have to add one pushup a day.” As of October 9th she is at 283 pushups. On the 10th she will do 284 pushups and so on and so forth. The idea for the challenge came from her aunt and now only Lilly and her brother are left.

Jocee Blakely: Ready, Set, Run!

Submitted by tara.pina on

As fast as she can, she pushes herself to run across the finish line. Satisfyingly she stops and catches her breath. She may not have gotten first place, but she won.

Jocee Blakely is a 9th grader here at Springville Jr, but she also runs on the Springville High school JV cross country team. She’s been running cross country since her 7th grade year. Besides that she likes running, she also said that she likes the team aspect of the sport. The team cheers the others on, no matter what. They practice Monday through Friday at the high school, and then go 8-10 miles alone on Saturday.

Student Spotlight: Kenley O’Bannon

Submitted by tara.pina on

Jesse Owens once said, “We all have dreams but in order to make dreams into reality it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” I think this is a perfect example of one of our seventh graders, Kenley O’Bannon. Kenley O’Bannon is a seventh-grader here at SJHS and is certainly a bright student. She is very eager to learn and is always looking out for others. She is really liking Jr. High so far, and she really enjoys how much positivity, kindness, and equality that is shown at school.

Dear SJHS parents and guardians:

We hope you had a good weekend! Fall Break is this Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16.

As we approach the end of first term (October 29), parents wanting to change their child’s learning option for second term from Remote Learning to At-School Learning, or vice versa, can do so by submitting their decision in this survey before October 20. If parents do not wish to change their student’s learning option at this time, they do not need to submit a survey response.

A couple attendance reminders:

Dear SJHS parents and guardians,

The best way to order school lunch and/or breakfast for students who are not at school is to fill out a survey each day for each student. This includes remote learning students of all grades. You will need to order before 9:00am each morning. Meals are only provided on scheduled school days. For special circumstances, you can still call the school at 801-489-2886 to place your order.
