I am lucky to be a part of a wonderful math team, and I have grown to love so many students and teachers here.” I asked Mrs.Taylor how is it different from being at the high school? She said “There are a few obvious differences.

Cross Country Training

Submitted by tara.pina on

Cross Country season has come and gone now. But what did it take for them to have success? What did the cross country team do to train? To find out we talked to coach Matt Hammon. Upon being asked what training is like Coach Hammon told us that on Tuesdays and Thursdays they do more challenging and harder workouts and on Mondays and Wednesdays they take it easier. On Fridays, they go to their meets. When we asked him what the best part of cross country is he said that his favorite part was seeing the kids bond and have fun and he likes seeing them win. He also told us about how the team compares to last year's team- he explained that they did very well especially the girls.

Outrageously Awesome Allies

Submitted by tara.pina on

Hundred of students crowd the halls, filling the school with their own unique personalities, interests, and emotions. Even though there are all these different kinds of people, some students still feel alone without a friend to look out for them. SJHS hosted Be an Ally week to help change this.

Being an ally has several different meanings to different people. When asked about the topic one of the students, Kimbal Mcferson, believes that being an ally means, “helping those who need it and those who don’t.” He thinks we should be looking out for fellow peers in our school which seems to be a very common trend among the students. Annie Low has similar opinions saying that allies help out whenever they can.
